Frequently Asked Questions
1. What services do you offer as a financial advisor?
We offer a wide range of financial services, including retirement planning, investment management, tax planning, estate planning, and insurance analysis. Our goal is to help you achieve financial goals effectively, efficiently and in line with your values.
2. How do you tailor financial plans to individual clients
This is a great Question. After all, financial fundamentals, tax rules, products, risk tolerances, account reviews and strategies can be applied to individuals, families and businesses alike. We tailor the plan to you by understanding your values, experience, time horizon and priorities. Those become the foundation of decision making and success. Next, Apollon Financial and LPL Financial allow us to offer institutional scale of a large business while providing high touch service of a small business. This is an important consideration as not all firms and advisors offer broad scale of product, strategy, planning and advice capabilities.
3. Are you a fiduciary?
Yes, we are fiduciaries in advisory accounts, which means we are legally and ethically obligated to act in your best interests. We prioritize transparency and integrity in all our dealings. Almost all firms and advisors claim this position but, in the end, it is the application of the obligation that is important. For example, all Certified Financial PlannersTM are fiduciaries. However, the Certified Financial Planners Board certifies individuals not companies. In addition, for transactional business based in commission compensation, a financial professional may operate under a best interest standard which can sound and feel like a fiduciary standard but may differ in scope and ongoing duty.
4. How are you compensated for your services?
We are primarily fee based meaning most of our business is conducted on a fee for service model much like other professionals with whom you may do business. There are, however, products and strategies that are only available or required by our business relationships to be conducted on a commission basis.
5. What are the benefits of working with a South Carolina based firm.
Working with Apollon Financial, enhances our service offerings with access to a wide range of investment products and cutting-edge technology.
Together, we offer a blend of local, personalized service with the strength and resources of a nationally recognized firm. Whether you prefer the close-knit community feel of our Greenville office or the extensive network and capabilities of Apollon Financial, you can trust that your financial well-being is our top priority regardless of your location.
6. How often will we meet to review my financial plan?
How often we meet is a result of the level of planning involved and/or your needs or desires surrounding your plan. At a minimum, we recommend an annual review. Asset management will affect this frequency as well. Asset management requires an annual review but many clients meet as frequently as quarterly.
7. What should I bring to my first meeting with you?
When you schedule your first appointment, we will provide an outline of items and questions you may want to consider having and discussing at the meeting. However, our first meeting is about learning about you, your expectations, needs and priorities. Then, we determine together, if our skill sets and services are a good fit to be able to work together with you. We are not a high-pressure sales organization. We aren’t expecting you to bring your checkbook and begin a relationship at the first meeting.
8. How do you stay updated with financial regulations and market trends?
All Advisors, like many professionals are required to complete a specific amount of continuing education. Depending on the educational background, licenses and certifications held, some advisors will require more continuing education than others. This is important because not all Advisors, including us, have the same level of skill in all areas. For example, while we provide tax planning, we are not CPA’s and do not prepare tax returns. Finally, we have relationships with information providers and educators supporting us with legal, tax, investment research, planning strategies and regulatory compliance education and requirements.
9. How can I schedule a consultation?
